The Challenges Small Farms and Homesteads Face With Manure Management?
From Stinky to Sustainable: The Manure Revolution You Can't Ignore! 💩
In this video, I discuss the critical importance of proper manure handling to prevent environmental issues and ensure a clean operation.
You'll discover:
- The hidden costs of poor manure management and what to do about it,
- Innovative techniques to convert “poo pennies” into dollars without back breaking work,
- How to boost your land value while living the dream homestead lifestyle,
- Secrets to remove unwholesome smells, labor, and time waste playing with poo,
- Ways to improve livestock health and well-being while feeding the soil,
- Cost-effective ways to turn organic waste into a valuable farm resource,
- Never again have to apologize for that farm smell (and don't accept it either),
Yes, you can compost the manure to reduce smell. Without these insights, that's not as easy as it seems.
I also discussion examples of the laws, rules, and regulations that will impact your farm. Unmanaged manure is a hazard.
Here's Your Chance To Experience A Practical Manure Management System
I’m excited to introduce a fundraising campaign for Infinity Acres Ranch, a nonprofit animal encounter ranch that is currently facing serious manure management challenges.
Like every petting zoo, educational center, or livestock collection, it's hay in and manure out. While they have a very good management system, here are some of the challenges.
- Manure accumulates quickly,
- Space becomes an issue,
- A drain on needed volunteer labor,
- Too close to educational activities,
- Difficult to access with equipment,
- Distracts from larger mission,
Our goal is to build a manure bunker that will transform their operations. If you'd like to contribute directly, visit https://www.infinityacres.org/
Be sure to forward a copy of your receipt to be eligible for coaching and resource promotions. This kind of system is a must for many small farms and homesteads.
The system I've designed for them must work with volunteers, hold a years worth of manure, and cost zero to maintain.
It needs to be durable, long-lasting, and stack function. When you have multi-species animals, there are also pathogen considerations.
Get Started With a Manure Management Consultation
In some cases I can see the problem clients face with Google Earth. It doesn't take much to see manure piles, feed lot conditions, and frustration.
In this training I also explain the benefits of a 3 or 4 base system for manure management, which enhances aeration. Other systems exist including bio-digestion and spreading.
Proper manure management minimizes greenhouse gas emissions and provides a practical receiving area for bulk materials, all of which benefit your farm.
However, manure management is different for every operation. A small homestead with limited space may be able to layer manures directly into growing areas (like deep bedding.)
While a larger acreage farm can store more manure longer to make compost. That's why a consultation around your site is so important.
I calculate manure outputs (adjusting for desired growth) and examine processes and workflows. If you have a volume of manure or will be selling the material, I will investigate regulations.
There are also remediation strategies to get your system spelling peachy. Everything bespoke for your small farm or homestead. These systems help manure to pay for itself.
Details on larger organic recycling programs can turn waste into wealth. Without dealing with the smell, labor, and frustrations most farms face today.
Whether you engage in a consultation or contribute directly to this project, you'll get access to valuable educational materials to fill the gap in this area.
Your contribution can help make a significant impact! Join us in supporting this important cause.
